• Curriculum overview

MIS curriculum was developed to achieve the mission and educational goals of the school and to adhere to the common core standards. MIS extend this framework by offering an enriched American curriculum for all students. The curriculum is based on the Virginia State Standards of Education, a set of high-quality academic standards which outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. MIS program emphasizes English and Arabic Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and social studies. Students take courses in Islamic Studies, Computers, Turkish, Art, P.E., and specialized content areas in Science and Math in the upper grades including: Calculus, Mechanics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry.

  • Student Assessment System

The Academic Year is divided into two halves. Each halve Exam will be 50 % of the School Academic Year Total Mark.

Each half divided into: two monthly exams plus final exam for each term.

Students should be tested only in the required material for each exam separately and they are not to be re-tested in previous curriculum.

There will be three types of quizzes:

1) announced

2) unannounced

3) oral

• Projects should be submitted on time, any delay will result in mark deduction.

Letter grades are issued twice a year within the bi-term year, computed on a GPA scale of 4.00. All grades are recorded on the school script. This transcript accompanies the college applications. (According to College Board Grading system).
